The Gift of Greenery

Medite MDF is considered biodegradable, primarily because it is made of natural wood fibres
(recycled sawdust and wood chips). When exposed to the right conditions,
it will decompose, unlike some non-organic building materials.

However, there are a few important considerations:
The primary component that complicates the biodegradability and recycling of standard MDF is the resin used to bind the fibres,
which traditionally contains urea-formaldehyde. Formaldehyde can inhibit the growth of microorganisms needed for decomposition.

Medite Clear (Ecologique): This product is manufactured with zero added formaldehyde
and is designed for environmentally sensitive interior applications.
This variant is more environmentally friendly in its composition and better suited for potential composting than standard MDF.

Reusing waste materials such as MDF and timber is a critical pillar of environmental,
directly contributing to a lower carbon footprint through the following impacts:
*Repurposing wood waste extends the lifespan of the material,
Diverting waste from landfills prevents the anaerobic decomposition of wood,
which would otherwise release greenhouse gases approximately 25 to 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Manufacturing products from recycled fibres requires significantly less energy than processing virgin timber.
For example, producing recycled-MDF panels can reduce energy-intensive manufacturing steps, leading to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
By utilizing existing waste, the demand for newly harvested timber is decreased.
This allows forests to remain intact, continuing their essential role as nature

By integrating these practices into daily operations, businesses can transform under-valued waste into a sustainable resource.

Our Story

Woodlands Creations began as a hobby creating play houses for our children and small gifts in 2014. In 2020 we opened our doors to the public with a simple belief: creativity feels different when it’s shaped by the place you call home. Founded in the heart of the Black Country, our work is inspired by the character of the region — its honesty, its craftsmanship, and its deep connection to making things that last.
What started as a small idea among the trees has grown into a creative workshop with a clear purpose: to craft meaningful, thoughtful pieces that bring imagination to life. Every project we take on carries the same values we began with — care, quality, and a genuine passion for creating something that feels personal.
We’re proud of our roots, proud of our craft, and proud to share a little piece of Woodlands with every creation we make.

“We take great pride in our craft here in the Black Country. Creativity runs deep in our roots, and our work reflects the passion and integrity of the place we call home.”
